Across our Primary and Secondary departments, we celebrated European Day of Languages on Monday 28th September 2026. The theme for this year was ‘Languages Unite!’ and we discussed all the different reasons why learning different languages is important and how it can bring people together to communicate in different ways. As a school community we use lots of alternative communication and our learners and families speak many different languages. This celebration highlights the importance of language, culture and the importance of learning lots of different ways to communicate with lots of different people across the school, our community and in different countries! Learners enjoyed a wide range of activities including flag making, crepe tasting and using French vocabulary to say Hello to their friends and staff in class. We also had a delicious French menu cooked by our catering team and the learners enjoyed tasting a new French meal. They also enjoyed croissants for their breakfast. At Tor View many of our learners access French lessons weekly and this celebration day was a great opportunity for our learners to build on their prior learning or explore a new language and culture through fun, sensory activities. We look forward to celebrating this special day again next year!
